HON AJALA EMPLOYS A DEAF INTERPRETER AS AIDE.

The Chairman, Odi-olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA, Hon Rasaq Olusola Ajala yesterday gave approval for a Deaf interpreter as one of his Aide.
He made the announcement while addressing the Association of Deaf Development, Odi-olowo/Ojuwoye branch at the Council's main hall yesterday.
In his speech, Hon Ajala thanked them on the role they played in the last elections that ushered in President Muhammadu Buhari, Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwoolu and all other political candidates who won last elections.
He said: " The success attained today was as a result of your support for our party.
He said he didn't think twice before approving today's program because of the significant role the Association played during and after the elections.
"We have always seen you as part of us. We have given two of your members Job at the department of the Environment. He said.
"Your members also benefited from our free GCE and JAMB programs. We have continuously provide Social intervention for people all the time which your members have also benefited from. He said.
He further said: "Odi-olowo/Ojuwoye has people from diverse background and interest which Deaf and Dumb people are also a major stakeholders.
He said: "When we are preparing for Able Bodies, we equally factored physically challenged into our programs.
" Given the role you have been playing in our political system in your respective Communities, you are the major nucleus of the special people within our Community. He said.
He called on them to feel free to come up with ideas that will be beneficial to the local council development area and the Community at large.
He said: "We won't take any decision based on sentiment, weather someone is Able or physically challenged, it will be based solidly on ideas which is the fastest selling commodities in the world today. He told them to see ability in their disability. "Odiolowo/Ojuwoye LCDA is not about me but about all of us.
We must take ownership of our government, identify positively with it and use instrumentality of any position we find ourselves to better the lots of our people and our names will be written in gold, he concluded.
Representative of the group...... Said all they need is equal opportunity like other able bodies. He wants political appointment for members in the local council.
According to him:" Some countries have Deaf people as Senators and some important positions. He want Nigeria to take cue from these countries.
He said:" Physically Challenged people must be given the opportunity not only to vote but be voted for. He also want Economic Empowerment in the area Vocational training.
In her parting words, Deaconess Beyioku Alase thanked Chairman Ajala for hosting them. She prayed for wisdom for the Chairman to be able to steer the affairs of the Council
To her fellow Deaf Community, she told them to use the opportunity they are having today judiciously.
She said:" Communication is the major problem of Deaf and Dumb people. They need Vocational training but they need interpreter to explain things to them as well. She also called for proper monitoring and Evaluation.
Responding, Chairman Ajala approved the appointment of interpreter for the local council development area with immediate effect. He also approved N10,000.00. monthly stipends for one of the members of the Association, Alhaji Lukman who has been battling with Diabetes for a while. He also told the Association to submit 5 names from their Association to benefit from the Bursary award coming up next month.
